This describes the families that ran the Watford Brewery acquired history of what became well know as Benskins Brewery in 1867. The story starts with a John Pope who was born in about 1882 in Hemel Hempstead, Herts, with family tree and map. [The cover shows Watford Church from Back Lane, showing the house brought by John Dyson in 1714.]

The Vicar of Richmond's Bricks

A short item relating to the meaning of the final line in the following poem, which was written in connection with the riots in St Albans relating to the blocking up of a pathway through the Abbey Church.

Up, Townsmen, to the rescue!

William Gerrish and the Society of Genealogists

William Blyth Gerrish (1865-1921) played an important part in the formation of the society - and also was an important Hertfordshire local Historian.
