High Cross is part of the historic parish of Standon.

The Village Church, High Cross - early postcard
The ecclesiastical district of High Cross was formed in 1845. It includes the hamlet of Colliers End and part of Wademill. The church of St John the Evangelist, High Cross, was built in 1847 by Lady Giles-Puller and her son Mr Christopher William Puller.
