Digital Library of Historical Directories

www.historicaldirectories.org

Historical Directories is a digital library of local and trade directories for England and Wales, from 1750 to 1919. It contains high quality reproductions of comparatively rare books, essential tools for research into local and genealogical history. It is a University of Leicester Project and is supported by Lottery funding.

It has a good coverage of Hertfordshire directories (see Post Office & Kelly's Directories), and for many other counties throughout England. As such it is a very valuable resource for the family historian. It is easy to use and provides its own documentation.

Examples of its use are given in the following Tutorials

Thomas William Horwood's Birth Certificate.
