Medicine Bottle - G. R. Durrant, Hertford

I originally purchased this bottle on ebay as an example of the kinds of objects you may sometimes find linked to your ancestors. I later discovered that George Reynolds Durrant was a photographer who also published post cards and decided to use him to demonstrate what information you can sometimes find by combining a number of mainly easily accessible online  sources.

This is a Chapman's Patent bottle which originally had a rubber ball in the neck. A Google search suggests that the patent was taken out in 1877. It is a variation of the bottle patented by Hiram Codd which had a rubber washer and a glass ball and was patented in 1872.
