Parish Church

St Peter and St Paul

The Rev. T. K. Lowdell was instituted and inducted as the new Vicar of Tring before a large congregation at the Parish Church of St. Peter and St. Paul on Thursday evening week. The Bishop of St Albans, who instituted Mr. Lowdell, afterwards addressed the congregation and invited them to join with him in a period of silent remembrance of the presence of God. He expressed the hope that the new Vicar would often in his services have such times of silence.

The Rt. Rev. C. T. T. Wood [later Bishop Wood] Archdeacon of St. Albans, and himself a former Vicar of Tring, inducted Mr. Lowdell, who was accompanied on his tour of the Church by the Churchwardens, Messrs A. Smith and F. L. Westron. … A full choir led the singing, which was accompanied by the church organist, Mr. E. Bell.

Belfry News: On February 17th, eleven members of the Tring Band of ringers were entertained by E. H. Lewis, Esq., President of the Central Council of Church Bell Ringers. Mr. Lewis took this opportunity of returning to the ringers the set of handbells belonging to the tower. These had got into a bad state of repair and he had had the set renovated at the Whitechapel Bell Foundry. Mr. F. J. Reeves thanked Mr. Lewis for his generous gift, for his hospitality, and for the continued help which Mr. Lewis has given to the Tring band.
