 PROCTOR, Bishops Stortford, 1880's

June 2001

Marilyn Wright (marjohn @t atlantic.net) of Wildwood, Florida, USA,. says the only info I have relates to my grandmother Clara Proctor who was born 9-17-1883. The family lived in Bishops Stortford, not sure if she was born there. I believe her father to be William. He was married twice. Other children were Alice, Kate, Nellie (Ellen) and Ernest. These children were BHC. The girls were in one of the Kensington Union Workhouses and were sent to Canada in 1891 and 1893. Want to know where they were before that? Home? Where? If I knew for sure WHERE grandma was born that might help find other info. Have NOT used IGI. just tossed out queries on net. This site is very interesting. it helps reading about where my grandmother lived.

No one with the surname Proctor listed at Bishop's Stortford in the 1881 census, baptised at St Michael's, Bishops Stortford at a relevant period.(VRI), or listed in the 1882 Kelly's Directory. As you have the exact date of birth you should have no difficulty in getting Clara's birth certificate from HALS and I advise you to do that.

There is a web page for Bishops Stortford
